Peppercon AG Delivers Advanced KVM-over-IP Subsystems Based on AMD's Open Platform Management Architecture (OPMA) Specification

ZWICKAU, Germany, Feb. 28 /PRNewswire/ -- Peppercon AG -- a leading provider of embedded KVM-over-IP modules and subsystems for remote server management -- today announced the first advanced embedded KVM-over-IP solution that adopts AMD's Open Platform Management Architecture (OPMA) specification.
Peppercon's KIM2.0 board, which is OPMA M3 compliant, is available for immediate shipment. The tiny daughter card, which uses the OPMA-industry- standard connector, offers high-performance and high-quality KVM-over-IP management, virtual media and full IPMI 2.0 support.

"The standardization of a common system management interface is a key step in creating cross-platform interoperability," said Michael Patellis, director of OEM Sales for Peppercon, the OEM division of Raritan Computer. "Peppercon's OPMA M3-compliant KIM2.0 card includes open APIs to help leading server OEMs, motherboard manufacturers and KVM vendors enable their enterprise management software solutions to easily communicate with OPMA-based solutions."

Peppercon's expertise in the KVM-over-IP and embedded system management market, combined with its close relationships with server and motherboard OEMs, helped AMD and its partners develop the OPMA specification for connecting management subsystems to a common hardware interface within a server platform.

"As a worldwide leading manufacturer of server motherboards, Tyan recognizes the need for an industry standard system management interface," said Don Clegg, vice president of Marketing & Strategic Sales at Tyan. "The collaboration by AMD, Peppercon and its partners to create the OPMA standard solves a major challenge facing the server market today."

Proprietary management hardware subsystems, in contrast to OPMA-based systems, ultimately result in inconsistent designs and a complex upgrade path for servers as manageability requirements change.

"Peppercon's announcement today of the OPMA-based KIM2.0 card is a major endorsement for the new OPMA specification," said Marty Seyer, corporate vice president and general manager, Microprocessor Business Unit, Computation Products Group, AMD. "Thanks to the contribution of Peppercon and other industry leaders working with AMD, the new common interface standard for embedded system management will help server OEMs and motherboard manufacturers reduce platform development risk, cost and time-to-market."
