History Of Microprocessor The C & C++ Multimedia Cyber Classroom uses FrameViewer to display text and graphics and QuickTime for Windows to play audio and video. FrameViewer is a true WYSIWYG display environment and as such works best with either a PostScript or PCL printer driver installed. QuickTime supports a wide range of audio and video cards.

Pixel Plus 3 HD offers the unique combination of ultimate sharpness, natural detail, vivid colors and smooth natural motion on all qualities of HD, standard TV signals and multimedia content, for high definition displays. Each pixel of the incoming picture is enhanced to better match the surrounding pixels, resulting in a more natural picture. Artifacts and noise in all sources from multimedia to standard TV and also in highly compressed HD are detected and reduced ensuring that the picture is clean and razor sharp.

Ecs Motherboard More information on both FrameViewer and QuickTime is provided in this README.

  1. Motherboard Review SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
Before installing the C & C++ Multimedia Cyber Classroom, be sure that your system meets the following minimum requirements:

  2. K7s5 Mainboard Socket 80486 and compatibles. Performance is significantly improved on Pentium-based systems.

The Evolution Of The 8 MB RAM. Performance is significantly improved on systems with 16 MB RAM. (Note: The Notes and Bookmarks features are only installed on systems with 16 megabytes or more of RAM. See the Cyber Classroom's online Help for more information.)

Abit Motherboard At least 15 MB free hard disk space.

Atx Mainboard Microsoft Windows 3.1, 3.11, and Windows for Workgroups. Like many 16-bit applications, this product should work well under Windows95.

Microprocessor Application SoundBlaster, SoundBlaster Pro, SoundBlaster Pro 16, and all SoundBlaster compatibles (See the QuickTime for Windows README file for more details on supported sound cards).

Emachines Motherboard Double-speed CD-ROM drive and higher.

Ipod Mainboard Video SVGA and compatible video. The Cyber Classroom is designed to run at a resolution of 640x480 in 256 colors. Higher resolutions generally work fine. (See the QuickTime for Windows README file for a complete list of supported video cards.)

Design Engineering While FrameViewer will work with any Windows-compatible printer driver, the display looks best when either a PostScript or PCL printer driver is installed. Windows ships with a wide selection of PostScript and PCL printer drivers. Consult your Windows documentation for information on installing printer drivers on your Windows system.

Motherboard Monitor Once a PostScript or PCL driver is installed, you can set it to be either the default driver for all of your Windows applications, or the driver for The Cyber Classroom only. You do the former through the Windows Control Panel. You do the latter through selecting the File menu option, then Print Setup, from within the Cyber Classroom. (For more information, see OPTIMIZING THE DISPLAY below.)

  3. 1st Mainboard INSTALLATION
Instructions for installing the Cyber Classroom are provided in the User's Guide. Note that to install FrameViewer you will need a registration number. This is provided in the User's Guide (page 3)

  4. Microprocessor Chip OPTIMIZING THE DISPLAY
For optimal display of text and graphics, you should have either a PostScript or PCL printer driver loaded. You can load one for use only by the Cyber Classroom by selecting File then Print Setup from the main window within the Cyber Classroom. If you do so, you will see a dialog box indicating that any open files will be reformatted. Click OK. (If you don't see any PostScript or PCL drivers when you select Print Setup, then you have none loaded on your system. You will have to place them on your system using the Windows distribution diskettes. Refer to the Windows documentation for information on how to add Printer Drivers to your system.)

Amd Motherboard You can also set one of these drivers as your Windows default. If you do this, the driver will be loaded automatically every time the Cyber Classroom is started. To do this, double-click on the Control Panel in the Main Program Group of the Windows Program Manager, and select Printers. Set any of the many PostScript or PCL printer drivers as your default. If none appear in your list, then you will have to load them from your Windows distribution diskettes. Refer to your Windows documentation for more information.

Mainboard Socket FrameViewer supports all video drivers approved and tested by Microsoft. If you have display problems after loading the correct printer driver, you most likely are using an unsupported video driver. One solution may be to experiment with the number of supported colors. On some systems, setting the number of supported colors to 16 corrects the display problem. On other systems, setting the number of supported colors to a large number (such as 65536) will correct the display. You should also tryusing the Microsoft-supplied VGA or SVGA driver that comes bundled with Windows.

Type Of Microprocessor To change video drivers, or change the number of supported colors, go to the Main Program Group of the Windows Program Manager, open Windows Setup. Under Options, choose Change System Settings. From the pull-down menu select a video driver that supports the number of colors you want.

Foxconn Motherboard The Cyber Classroom uses Apple Computer's QuickTime for Windows to play the audio and video. QuickTime for Windows supports a wide range of video cards. However, if your system does not display the video segment of the Cyber Classroom correctly, you may have a video card that QuickTime does not support. Please see the README file in the QuickTime for Windows program group for a list of these.

Mainboard Xcel2000 If the Cyber Classroom is incurring general protection faults in gdi.exe and user.exe or *.drv then your video driver may need to be changed over to generic "superVGA" under Windows setup. If your problems continue to persist, contact the vendor of your graphics adapter to obtain the latest windows drivers.

Digital Logic And Users of Cirrus Logic video chipsets, (Packard Bell/Compaq/IBM computers) should be sure to update to the latest drivers to prevent jittery QuickTime performance. As of this writing the latest drivers for the CL-GD5400 thru 5420 series is version 1.3. For the CL-GD5420 thru 5430 the latest version is 1.43. These drivers can be obtained through the Cirrus BBS at 1-510-440-9080.

  5. Motherboard Cpu Combo OPTIMIZING AUDIO
The Cyber Classroom uses QuickTime for Windows from Apple Computer to play both audio and video. Apple reports that sound problems have been observed on systems configured with the SoundBlaster Pro card using older versions of the spbsnd.drv driver. New drivers can be obtained from the following anonymous ftp site: ftp.creaf.com. Please read the README file in the QuickTime for Windows program group for more information on supported sound cards.

Mainboard Psp If you are experiencing problems with your sound card, check the volume control on your sound card and be sure your speaker cables are inserted in the proper jacks. Also, check your MCI and windows sound drivers in the drivers control panel. Be sure that no other open applications are using the sound device. Consult your sound card vendor if problems continue to persist.

Architecture Featuring Insure that SmartDrive is loaded into your autoexc.bat file and that it is running. From the c: prompt, 1)type smartdrv to get status info or 2)edit autoexec.bat and check for a statement similiar to: LH c:\dos\smartdrv

Laptop Motherboard Users of the Ensoniq Soundscape Card should make sure they have Wave A and Wave B enabled in their drivers setup.

  6. Via Mainboard OPTIMIZING THE CDROM
To ensure optimal CD-ROM performance, check the autoexec.bat to make sure that smartdrv.exe is loading before mscdex and is properly caching your cd-rom driver. Also be sure to contact the vendor of yourCD-ROM drive to make sure you are using the latest drivers.

  7. Embedded Microprocessor GENERAL PROTECTION FAULTS
FrameViewer requires approximately 500 kilobytes of free conventional memory. If you have less conventional memory free, you may experience intermittent GPFs. Most DOS systems ship with a utility called mem. You can determine the amount of free conventional memory on your system by entering the following command at the DOS prompt: mem /c /p. If you have less than 500K of conventional memory free and you are experiencing GPFs, you will need to either remove drivers from your configuration or place them in upper memory. memmaker is a memory optimizer that ships with most DOS systems. You can use it to free up conventional memory. Alternatively you can also increase the virtual memory size under the "enhanced 386" control panel within the Main program group.

Motherboard Driver If you encounter an error with progman.exe in krnl386.exe when launching the program, you are most likely running from a drive where the \windows directory does not reside. If this is the case, delete the application and reinstall to the startup device where the \windows directory resides.

  8. Foxconn Mainboard "RunExec Failed" ERROR MESSAGE
If you see this error message when you attempt to run an executable by clicking on the executable (lightning bolt) icon, your system lacks enough free contiguous memory to support all of the features of the Cyber Classroom. Quit the Cyber Classroom, exit from Windows, restart Windows and restart the Cyber Classroom, without any other Windows applications running. This should correct the problem.

Amd Microprocessor If this fails, and if you are using the Bookmarks and Notes features of the Cyber Classroom, you must quit the Cyber Classroom and comment out Bookmarks and Notes by placing a semicolon at the beginning of the following line in the file C:\VIEWER4\VIEWER.INI, as follows:

    Best Motherboard ;Notes=Standard,Frame Notes Client,fn\notes.dll

Mainboard Motherboard (If you use Windows Write to edit this file, be sure to select "No Conversion" at the conversion dialog box that appears when you open the file.) When you restart the Cyber Classroom "Bookmarks" and "Notes" will no longer appear under the Navigation menu option.

Microprocessor Definition If, at a later date, you add more memory to your system, you can recover these features by removing the semicolon from this line in the file.

  9. Motherboard Cpu FRAME ERROR
The following error message is known to display intermittently on some systems:

  10. Ipod Mainboard Mini FRAME

An error has occurred in your application. If you choose Ignore, you should save your work in a new file. If you Choose Close, your application will terminate.

Design Of High Performance You can safely ignore this error message by selecting "Ignore" and continue working in the Cyber Classroom.

  11. Biostar Motherboard EXITING THE CYBER CLASSROOM
Be sure to exit the Cyber Classroom before exiting Windows. On some systems, attempting to exit Windows with the Cyber Classroom still running causes Windows to lock up.
